Introduction:

As the Dutch landscape has changed rapidly due to urbanization and agricultural intensification, concerns over the loss of wild species have put pressure on scientists and policy makers to find ways to protect biodiversity in the Dutch landscape in the dynamic context of the modern Dutch economy. As many ecosystems are shaped by, and therefore depend on, agricultural activity, farmers are contracted to adapt their management to the protection of species that depend on agricultural land use.

Aim:

The goal of this project is to develop a methodology to assess the efficiency of policies for biodiversity conservation in agricultural areas, and to analyze the trade off between production and biodiversity protection.
