This symposium also aims at celebrating the fact that Gatze Lettinga was awarded the 2007 Tyler prize for Environmental Achievement, and for
his career-long contribution to the development of high-rate, low-cost and environmentally-sound anaerobic (pre-)treatment technologies. These
technologies are now widely applied around the world as a solution towards industrial and domestic wastewater treatment.
During the symposium several speakers will present the current state of affairs after 10 years of LeAF and 25 years of anaerobic treatment. The future of anaerobic technology and further developments in sanitation and waste treatment and their relation to reaching the Millennium
Development Goals will be addressed.
Afterwards, there will be an official program and drinks organized by Wageningen University and Research Center.
The Symposium is co-organised by SENSE; several SENSE PhD students are in the organising committee.
