Fixing fundamental flaws in measuring and modeling landscape change

Location
Date
November 3, 2004
Duration
3:30 PM to 4:30 PM
On Wednesday, November 3, Robert Gilmore Pontius Jr. will give a special seminar in Wageningen entitled:

Fixing fundamental flaws in measuring and modeling landscape change.

The presentation offers techniques to improve methods of modeling landscape change and of comparing maps. First, the focus lies on techniques to include objective estimation of uncertainty in extrapolations by models that predict land-cover change, using an urban area as an example.
Second, the foundation of multiple-resolution map comparison will be examined to see how it is useful to validate a model that predicts vegetation changes in southern Africa.

Lecture Room C Alterra Oost, Wageningen University and Research Centre..
