We would like to notify you of a workshop we are planning to organize during the Energy Convention in Groningen, in the Netherlands (http://www.energyconvention.nl), on the issue of ‘Climate and Energy Policy Interactions’.


The second edition of the Energy Convention Groningen, the ECG2006, will take place on 20-22 November 2006. The Convention will be attended by international experts in the field of energy transition. All information about the venue and programme of the ECG2006 can be found elsewhere on this website.

The workshop ‘Climate and Energy Policy Interactions’ is intended to provide a synthesis of different approaches and methodologies of analyzing interactions of energy and climate policy instruments. More specifically the workshop will address, among others, the following research questions:

  • How can we combine different energy and climate policy instruments?
  • How can we define a proper design of combined policy instruments?
  • How can we determine ex-ante the effects of combined policy instruments on the energy market?
  • Are there blueprints for determining and evaluating interactions of energy policy instruments?
  • Can an integration of top down and bottom up approaches of analyzing policy interactions take place?
We expect a fruitful discussion among policymakers, academics, researchers, companies and other stakeholders.
