Aiming to encourage interdisciplinary debate and reflection with reference to major challenges in Environmental Sciences Studies, the "Context - Looking at the bigger picture" started in 2007 and it was organized to be a series of lectures throughout the academic years, which aspire to assemble renowned professors, researchers and PhD students.
As a group of PhD students in Wageningen University, who all participate in the SENSE Research School working on very diverse research topics, it was very significant to create appealing opportunities where different people with similar motivation and interests could come together. The recognition and development of the intellectual identity of the Environmental Sciences students and researchers implies in a constant and inspiring exchange of experiences and knowledge. Therefore, in a Research School like SENSE, the organization of events as the "Context" should be seen as a priority!
"Ethics in Environmental Sciences" and "Social and Environmental Resilience" are the topics that we will address on November 20th, and it drove our search for exceptional speakers, who both mastered the subject and also motivated the audience. In the wake of the proceedings, the "Context" will give our target public a remarkable chance to position themselves critically in the framework of environmental sciences and improve their knowledge on pertinent and present issues in distinct fields.
We hope that we have given you all, SENSE PhD students and senior researchers, enough information for the time being, and that this announcement will inspire other SENSE PhD students as well to be a part of this venture, especially as it may be undertaken as a "SENSE A2 - Research in Context Activity", as we did it ourselves. Thus, hopefully, other SENSE PhD students will also organize such meetings soon. Please, do not hesitate to contact us at contextsymposium@sense.nl if you have any questions or recommendations or if you would like to join the Context Team!
We look forward to your engagement.
