Environmental risk assessment and life-cycle assessment

Location
Date
September 22, 2008
Duration
All day, every day.
End date
September 23, 2008
The MuSA project aims at linking environmental risk assessment (ERA) with

life-cycle assessment (LCA) to assess the spatial and temporal risks of
contaminated land
(http://www.bio.vu.nl/do/research/ecotoxicology/musa.htm).

Within that framework we are organizing a workshop, to be held on 22-23
September in Amsterdam to discuss the possible integration of ERA and LCA
approaches for this purpose. See the attached flyer announcing the
workshop. The workshop will consist of 4 sessions dealing with the topics
below. Each session will start with an introduction of the topic from the
viewpoints of ERA and LCA from 1 or 2 presenters, and will be followed by
a discussion.

Four sessions are planned:

1) spatial and temporal aspects of impact assessment in LCA and ERA,

2) biodiversity issues,

3) ecotoxicology for ERA and LCA,

4) mobility and availability of metals in soils.

The workshop participants are invited to give their views and

expectations during the working group taking place after each session.

The output of the working group discussions will be summarized in a

workshop report and will serve as a basis to define research needs and

perspectives.
