The Z_GIS Summer School 2010 is dedicated to the theme of Bridging Geographic Information Science (GIS), Landscape Ecology (LE), and Remote Sensing (RS) for landscape analysis and landscape planning and is hosted by Salzburg University's Centre for Geoinformatics (Z_GIS).

Participants with an interest in GIS, Remote Sensing and Landscape Ecology are welcome to attend the short intensive course from June 29 - July 09, 2010 in the world cultural heritage city of Salzburg. Participants also have access to the Geoinformatics Forum / AGIT conference from July 06 - 09, 2010. Conferences are included in the course fee.

The summer school has been designed to:

  • Support the training and development of the next generation of landscape ecologists, GIS and remote sensing experts
  • Facilitate communication and the exchange of information between young scientists and established scholars from around the world in the field of GIS, remote sensing and Landscape Ecology scientists, and
  • Enable young researchers to develop and discuss their ideas in the context of other approaches and perspectives
  • Enhance knowledge and technical capabilities
  • Advocate the use of sound policy decisions based on concepts, approaches, theories and methods in landscape ecology applied in the domain of GIS and RS
