Biological Processes for Resource Recovery in Environmental Technology
S123
Course contents
The subject of this course is the use of biological processes in Environmental Technology. An overview is given of both technological and microbiological aspects of the processes of interest. Based on the general kinetics of biological processes, the design principles for wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment, off-gas cleaning and soil remediation will be derived. Biological processes for the degradation and conversion of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur under aerobic, anaerobic or anoxic conditions will be reviewed. . If necessary physical-chemical processes will be treated to some extent.
