Learn about contemporary communication tools and techniques to improve dissemination of your scientific output.
There is an increasing demand for specialists who combine expertise in science and technology with expertise in communication to provide information about complex matters such as science and technology. Science often needs rephrasing, interpreting, translating and evaluating in order to reach 'the other party' effectively and to create conditions for true dialogue.
Through interactive learning techniques, you will focus on storytelling and the effective use of media as a way of furthering public understanding and appreciation of water (management) issues. Subjects of the course are: networking, presentation skills (scientific poster presentation), body language, peer-to-peer coaching, personal communication (how to make impact with your personality) and popular science writing.
The programme consists of workshops. These workshops will combine theory with practice through individual, group and plenary activities, presentations, discussions, role-plays, exercices, radio and tv programme analysis and mini assignments.
