Target audience
Doctoral researchers & PostDocs from the natural and social science open to/ interested into inter- and transdisciplinary research and how they can make research relevant for policy and practice
Contents
- General Introduction in models and approaches to link science and decision-making, criteria how to assess their performance, including the backgrounds of inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, roles of science in politics.
- Examples of science-policy interfacing from different areas and on different levels – a) Climate (e.g., IPCC, Klimabüros), b) biodiversity and ecosystem services (e.g., IPBES, EKLIPSE), c) water (e.g., World Water Assessment). The examples will include interactive activities of the students.
- Round up, reflection on lessons learned and what can be used in the context of the student’s topics
Didactic aim
Lecture, presentations by UFZ researchers and interfacers on ongoing interface activities, class discussions, students are invited to present questions raised during their own research that relate to interfacing science and decision-making.
