Innovation, Institutions and Societal Challenges

Date: 24 August 2020 - 28 August 2020
Location: Utrecht, The Netherlands

The Utrecht Summer School Innovation, Institutions and Societal Challenges provides you with an opportunity for interdisciplinary research training on how institutions and innovation can contribute to addressing the grand societal challenges of our time. The summer school targets graduate students who are interested in learning about the latest academic insights on innovation and institutional theory and who would like to use these insights in their academic research on successful and failed cases of institutional change and disruption by innovation. The course offers research-based seminars by leading experts in the field as well as a focus on academic skill development in conducting challenge-led research. During the course week you will work in interdisciplinary research teams to develop a research proposal on institutional disruption to address a specific challenge in the domain of sustainability, health or digital society. The course is organised in connection with Utrecht University's strategic research themes "Institutions for Open Societies" and “Pathways for Sustainability” and provides opportunities to explore research collaborations within the context of these themes.
