Announcement and Call for Contributions:
The set-up of this Symposium was based on an open call for contributions. Those who wished to present at this event were encouraged to start the consensus building process by submitting 3 pages abstracts involving coauthors from different groups. The scientific committee condensed the topic of major interest and invited groups to present their ideas.

Objectives of the symposium

To update participants about new biological developments for anticipating sustainable water use;
To identify new ways to capture valuable by-products from wastewater treatment for reuse or sale;
To formulate recommendations for enhancing wastewater technologies and contribute to the health protection.

Proposed Themes

Novel cost-effective anaerobic and aerobic technologies for wastewaters treatment;
Bio-electrochemical systems for energy production from wastewaters;
Advanced technologies for wastewater recovery.
