Dissertation title:

Abstract:
Temperature series are affected by biases generally due to human interventions (relocations, changes of screen, etc,). A completely automated homogenization process has been developed and applied to the European Climate Assessment and Dataset, that stores data from all over Europe. It is based on the technique called Quantile Matching. The results have been analysed in case studies and with a general look to the effect on the trends of average and extreme events. The method has been compared to other acknowledged ones. Finally a powerful use has been shown: the homogenized ECA&D has been used for the creation of a homogenized gridded dataset, whose trends on average and extreme values have been compared to climate simulation model.
