The UNESCO Institute for Water Education has joined the Research School SENSE.
The mission of the Institute is to contribute to the education and training of professionals and to build the capacity of sector organisations, knowledge centres and other institutions active in the fields of water, the environment and infrastructure, in developing countries and countries in transition.

UNESCO-IHE conducts applied, strategic and fundamental scientific R&D in its various fields of expertise, in collaboration with its network of research institutions in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

All R&D activities aim to contribute to knowledge base development and research capacity building, ultimately leading to sustainable development within the framework of international agreements relating to water, environment and physical infrastructure, such as Agenda 21 and Habitat II.
