Open Science Meeting 2017: Towards resilient society

Date: 15 May 2017 - 17 May 2017
Location: Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia

The theme of OSM 2017 is “Towards Resilient Society”. Resilient society is a term that permeates many political agendas the world over. It has become shorthand for what we need to ensure an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable future for our planet. OSM 2017 will put resilient society centre stage. Science will be our starting point, but civil society, the private sector and government policymakers are indispensable partners.

The OSM 2017 programme features scientific presentations, an innovation fair, public debates, workshops, keynote speeches, poster presentations, and science for policy sessions. Around the OSM plenary days, master classes on different themes will be held at several locations around the archipelago. Six interdisciplinary themes have been identified to form the heart of OSM 2017:

  • Governance, politics and law: democratization and (de)centralization
  • Health for all: health systems and quality of life
  • Climate change, biodiversity and ecology: development with nature
  • Food, water and energy in the biobased economy: smart and local solutions?
  • Identity, diversity and culture: inequality and (de)radicalization
  • Disaster management: prevention, resilience, risk reduction
