On 25 January the inaugural lecture of Ton Hoitink as personal Professor in the Hydrology and Quantitative Water Management Group will take place. His lecture will be preceded by a symposium in Gaia 1, with the following programme:

  • 12.30-12.55 Dr. Maarten van der Vegt (Utrecht University): “Tides and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta”
  • 12.55-13.40 Break with sandwiches
  • 13.40-14.05 Prof. Zheng Bing Wang (Deltares and TU Delft): “The Yangtze Delta, a delta in transition”
  • 14.05-14.30 Prof. Torbjorn Tornqvist (Tulane University): “Large deltas and relative sea-level rise: An awkward relationship”
  • 14.30-14.55 Dr. Liviu Giosan (Woodshole Oceanographic Institution): “From waves to tides: Danube and Irrawaddy deltas”
