Seminar Rune Graversen "On the linkage between atmospheric circulation and Arctic sea-ice melt"

Date: 05 September 2018
Time: 13:30 - 14:30
Location: Lumen 1, Wageningen University

The atmospheric northward energy transport plays a crucial role for the Arctic climate; this transport brings to the Arctic an amount of energy comparable to that provided directly by the sun. The transport is accomplished by atmospheric waves – for instance large-scale planetary waves and meso-scale cyclones. Here we investigate how either of these components of the energy transport impact the Arctic climate and sea ice.

Prof. Rune Graversen will be visiting Wageningen as part of Folmer Krikken's PhD defense on changes and predictability of Arctic sea ice.
