The Netherlands eScience Center is the Dutch national center of excellence for the development and application of research software to advance academic research. Their aim is to help researchers improve their research by taking advantage of available digital technology. As a PhD student at SENSE you can benefit from workshops on digital skills (e.g. programming, data handling, open science, best practices, etc.) that the eScience center provides.
The eScience center also co-organises the research software engineering meetups. Research software engineers are researchers who develop their own software to be able to carry out their research (sounds familiar?). These meetups bring together researcher software engineers from different fields and levels of expertise to share their knowledge on digital skills – these meetups are a good opportunity to get in touch with colleagues who might be able to help you improve your digital skills.
If you want to be informed of upcoming eScience center courses and events, you can sign up to their newsletter. You can also follow find out more in the news section of their website and by following them on Twitter.
