Early 2009, the SENSE Research School started 14 research clusters. They have been installed to sharpen the focus of the four overarching research themes of SENSE by creating smaller research teams that bring together researchers and PhD students from different SENSE partner institutions.
Research clusters aim to establish a platform/network for SENSE PhD-students and SENSE researchers that work on related topics or themes. Such a platform/network enables information exchange and common activities, such as organizing:
SENSE Researcher Marten Scheffer (WIMEK) receives NWO Spinoza Prize.
A direct weblink to the English press release may be found HERE.
Nominations for the Distinguished Lorentz Fellowship can be send in now.
This fellowship is meant to encourage leading figures working in the Netherlands to pursue a research project during a residential fellowship at NIAS that culminates in an international interdisciplinary workshop.
Date: September 24, 2009
Location: Forum Building, Droevendaalsesteeg 2 [Building 102], 6708 PB Wageningen
Duration:

The study of regime shifts developed independently in the freshwater and marine realms; with studies of freshwater regime shifts having a resource-based focus while in marine systems, research concentrates on higher trophic levels. Do these distinct approaches reflect fundamental differences in the drivers of the abrupt changes or is it simply a reflection of a parallel development towards one unifiable body of theory?
The announcement poster can be downloaded here.
Information: Kristina.Raab@wur.nl, Reinier.HilleRisLambers@wur.nl, Andrea.Downing@wur.nl
Registration: email Andrea.Downing@wur.nl before September 7th, specifying whether you will present a poster or talk (and include any dietary requirements).
