The Department of Applied Environmental Science (ITM) at Stockholm University is an interdisciplinary department focused on two research themes: contaminant science, and atmospheric science & biogeochemistry. We are a group of ~160 professors, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral students and technicians working in an open organization thriving on internal collaboration. To further broaden our research profile and strengthen our research environment, we are recruiting 5 Postdoctoral Research Fellows. We invite young scientists interested in a postdoctoral career development opportunity to submit proposals for a 2 year research project. The project should build on the existing strengths at ITM while introducing new research questions or methods.

Postdoctoral fellowships Molecular Interactions Controlling soil Carbon Sequestration – MICCS, Lund University, Sweden

Posted on March 31, 2014 10:58:03 AM +02:00
Reactions are open until: Sun, 01 June 2014 23:59:55 +02:00
The research program “Molecular Interactions Controlling soil Carbon Sequestration – MICCS”, funded by the Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is a multidisciplinary effort to gain a mechanistic understanding of the interactions between soil organic matter (SOM), the activity of symbiotic and saprophytic microorganisms and the physicochemical environment that control the stability of SOM. On a global scale this pool stores more carbon than is present in the terrestrial biomass and the atmosphere combined. Whether soils will capture, store or release carbon will be critical for regulating the atmospheric carbon dioxide level and thus the Earth´s climate.

UNESCO-IHE launches fellowship programme for experienced researchers in the field of water and development. The EWPFP COFUND is a fellowship programme for incoming mobility of experienced researchers in the broad field of water and development. The programme is launched by UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education and co-financed by the European Union's Marie Curie Programme. The programme offers 16 fellowships that will cover a research period of 24 months. The fellowship includes a research project prepared by the research fellow and implemented at UNESCO-IHE. Fellows have freedom to choose a project within the research setting of UNESCO-IHE and relevant public and private partners. This allows the fellows to develop and widen their competences significantly, in particular in terms of multi- or interdisciplinary expertise, intersectoral (private-public) experience and complementary skills in the broad field of water.
